Requirements

Hour Requirements

Actives: 15 per semester. At least one hour must be from each field of service

Pledges: 12 total. At least one one hour must be from three fields of service

Attendance Hours

Every active starts out with 4 hours (3 for pledges) for meetings. If the VP Membership is not contacted with a reasonable excuse for an absence, it is considered unexcused, and you lose half (½) of an hour for each absence. If you miss one quarter (1/4) of the total number of meetings without being excused, you go into bad standing with the chapter.

Actives must also attend at least one pledge meeting, or they will lose 2 of their attendance hours.

Personal Hours

Personal hours are those that are done outside of APO projects, and are not required.

-Cannot be from an internship or a paid job.

-Cannot receive any form of credit from another organization (i.e. Greek chapter requirements, Circle K requirements)

Actives can receive 5 personal hours that count towards a field and for the 15 required hours.

Pledges can receive 4 personal hours that count towards a field and for the 12 required hours.

You can receive any amount of personal hours, but only one third (1/3) of the total needed each semester can count towards your requirement. Any over this amount become lifetime hours.

Lifetime Hours

Hours that are from any source.

The VP Membership will keep track of personal and APO hours and will count them all as lifetime hours. It is for your own record and personal count.

Fields

Some projects can count for more than one field, such as an American Red Cross blood drive, which can count for national or community hours. If you are in need of hours in a certain field, the VP Membership can see if any of your projects can cover this field.

Hour Submission

The VP Service usually provides a sign-in sheet for any project. This is given to the VP Membership for the records.

There will be a list of hours on the webpage for everyone in the chapter. Please keep track of your hours so no errors are made. Mistakes will be made, you need to email the VP Membership about them.

If you have hours that are not on a sheet, such a donating blood, humane society trips, personal hours, etc, please use the email submission feature on the APO website

The VP Membership will also collect personal hours at the end of the semester. Please keep track of all you have.

Committees

You must serve on at least one committee. The chair of each committee will be the authority on how much each member should participate.

Fellowship Events

All members are required to attend at least two fellowship events during the semester.

*For this semester the fellowship requirement was increased to 3 fellowship activities, of campus activities being worth 2 of those 3.  Qualifying fellowship events are up to the discretion of the Fellowship VP and the Exec Board.

What if I have a project idea?

Great! But you must check it with the VP Membership and VP Service before telling the chapter or offering hours. Make sure you know that actives can receive the hours and that they count for a field.
