2004

  • Dec 16: The semester has finally come to an end! The ACM did some great work this year, keeping with its aims of reviving interest in the organization and in computer science at IWU. Besides commencing the Robot project, the ACM members gave some very absorbing presentations, such as:
    • Game development [Mike Serra]
    • The various CPU architectures [Joe Jasinski, Aditya Rajgarhia, Mike Serra]
    • GUI development using GTK and QT [Mike Serra]
  • Oct 22-24: The ACM arranged a trip to the University of Illinois, who had organized a giant ACM fair. There were some interesting talks by eminent personalities, as well as a job fair.
  • Oct 14: Trip to "The Cave" at the University of Illinois. The Cave is a virtual reality environment. The tour was nice, we even got to play Quake on the VR environment! For information regarding how the system works, click on the above link to visit their official website.
  • April 21: Had computer smashing in the quad; a good stress-busting exercise before the final exams! The smashed bits shall be proudly displayed at the ACM display on the second floor of CNS.
  • April 15: The Student Senate has decided to allot us most of the requested budget, including the full amount for the robot project.
  • March 18: New officers have been elected for the 2004-2005 academic year. Click here for a list of the new ACM@IWU officers.
