Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Writing Center located?
The Writing Center is located in Buck Memorial Library 102. To get there, enter through the north doors of Buck and go to the end of the main hall. Turn right and you're there.

How do I make an appointment?
The best way is to call, e-mail, or stop by and set up an appointment with a tutor. Walk-ins are welcome, but priority is given to those with appointments. Be sure to tell us your name, how many pages your draft is, and either your dorm room extension/ off-campus number or your e-mail address. The Center does not have long distance access, so we can't call out-of-area cell phones.

What do I need to prepare for a tutoring appointment?
Start Early in the process: come in shortly after the assignment has been given, and bring in the assignment and any ideas you have written down on paper. Later, bring your rough draft, either on paper or disk. If you've discussed the assignment with your professor, be sure to let your tutor know.  Also make sure to read the Writing Center's Policies and Guidelines.

We help with other kinds of writing, too!
Teachers: we will work with you on individual assignments, in making presentations to your classes, and with individual students to create the best learning experience for your students and the best writing in your classes. Contact the Writing Coordinator for specialized presentations or collaboration.
