This two-hour session will compare how we evaluate (not respond to) student papers. We'll look at two sets of papers in small groups, score them, and reconvene as a group to discuss our evaluations.  In the process we will also begin the process of building a rubric for Gateway papers.

This lunch-time forum will feature faculty and writing center tutors discussing the Writing Partners program as well as student usage of the Center.

Teaching Retreat/conference (all faculty)
On Saturday, Jan. 12, from 9:00-1:00 (coffee at 8:30; half-hour coffee break, lunch following) we plan to present two teaching roundtables: one on classroom techniques and one on class projects.  We're calling for volunteer presenters; presenters will be stipened.

Science division: delivering writing intensive courses (WI)
This 90-minute meeting (4:00-5:30) will focus on the requirements for writing intensive courses. I hope to have us all look collaboratively at existing courses and how they might be converted to WI status, and to have some faculty volunteer to discuss how they include the teaching of writing in their WI courses.
