Kim Nelson-Brown

In 2008, Kim Nelson-Brown will begin her 13th season as head volleyball coach at IWU. Her 12-year overall record is 263-178 (.596 winning percentage) with one outright College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship (1997) and two NCAA Division III tournament appearances (1997, 1998). The 2003 team won the CCIW's regular season title with a 6-1 mark.
Since coming to Illinois Wesleyan in 1996, Nelson-Brown has coached four All-Americans (Tiffany Hamblin, 2002; Beth Crowley, 2003; Molly May, 2004; and Jenna Passananti, 2006), ten all-region players, 39 all-CCIW selections, and three CCIW "Players of the Year" (Kellie Schmidt, 1999; Crowley, 2003; and May, 2004)
In 11 seasons, Nelson-Brown's teams have a conference record of 51-33 (.607 winning percentage).
Nelson-Brown was a four-year letterwinner at Division I Illinois State University, from 1990-93, and was the Missouri Valley Conference "Most Valuable Player" in both 1992 and 1993. She was elected to the Illinois State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002.
A 1994 ISU graduate, Nelson-Brown was the Redbirds' MVP in 1992 and three-time "Most Inspirational Player." Kim and her husband, Brian, are the parents of a daughter (Tyler, born Aug. 21, 1997) and a son (McCade, born Aug. 15, 2000). Nelson-Brown is also an associate athletic director at Illinois Wesleyan.
