October 16
Illinois Wesleyan’s Krista Cardona was named women’s tennis “Coach of the Year” in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and two Titans earned all-conference honors. Senior Allison Heim (Decatur, Ill., Mt. Zion HS) was named to the first team for the third consecutive season and sophomore Cassie Devore (Normal, Ill., West HS) earned second team all-CCIW honors. Heim was 9-7 overall this fall and was 4-2 against CCIW opponents at No. 1 singles while Devore was also 4-2 in the CCIW at No. 2 singles and 9-8 overall. Devore and Heim paired for a 7-10 record at No. 1 doubles. The Titans were 5-9 overall and 2-4 in the CCIW and improved from fifth place to third in the CCIW championship tournament.

October 10-11
For the sixth time in the last seven years, the Illinois Wesleyan women’s tennis team finished third in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championships, held Oct. 10-11 at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington. In singles competition, No. 1 Allison Heim and No. 2 Cassie Devore both earned third place finishes. Heim beat North Central’s Cory Schillerstrom, 8-3, while Devore topped North Central’s Alicia DeGrado, 8-4. In doubles, Heim and Devore teamed for third at No. 1 with an 8-3 win over Schillerstrom and Allison Paschold of North Central, and Sarah Wilson and Cate Hunter teamed up for a third place finish at No. 3 doubles with an 8-6 decision against Augustana’s Brittany Reece and Justine Stukas. Wheaton won the title for the 14th time overall and for the fourth straight season with 78 points, followed by Carthage (57) and IWU (27).

October 1
Illinois Wesleyan senior Kristen Piotrowski was named women's tennis player of the week in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin on Wednesday, Oct. 1 after her performance last weekend .
Piotrowski, playing at No. 3 singles, went undefeated over the weekend, winning both matches against CCIW competition. Piotrowski defeated Elmhurst's Stephanie Russ 6-0, 6-1, then defeated Wheaton's Brittany Dunn 6-3, 6-2. As a team, the Titans defeated Elmhurst 6-3, but lost to Wheaton 8-1. She is the second Titan to earn the weekly honor this season after Cassie Devore earned the honor on Sept. 17.

September 28
The Illinois Wesleyan women’s tennis team won two of three matches last weekend and improved to 3-9 for the season. IWU defeated Elmhurst, 6-3, and lost to Wheaton, 8-1, on Saturday, Sept. 27 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin matches, then downed Knox, 6-3, on Sunday, Sept. 28. Kristin Piotrowski was the lone IWU double winner at No.3 singles on Sept. 27, defeating Elmhurst’s Stephanie Russ, 6-0, 6-1, and downing Wheaton’s Brittney Dunn, 6-3, 6-2. IWU plays at Millikin on Sept. 30 and hosts St. Francis on Oct. 1 at 4:30 p.m.

August 30
The Illinois Wesleyan women's tennis team lost a pair of matches to quality regional competition on Saturday, August 30. The Titans lost, 9-0, to Carthage, the runner-up in last year's College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin meet, and lost by a 9-0 count to Wisconsin-Whitewater, one of 47 teams in the 2008 NCAA Division III national tournament. Senior Allison Heim has a career mark of 37-20 and is No. 19 all-time in singles wins but was 0-2 at No. 1 singles in the opening weekend. IWU plays four Iowa colleges the weekend of September 6-7, beginning with Cornell at 9 a.m. Sept. 6.

July 1

The Illinois Wesleyan women’s tennis team will start play in its 2008 season at home against Carthage and Wisconsin-Whitewater on August 30. The Titans, who finished fifth in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin tournament last season, were 3-3 in CCIW play and 4-17 overall in dual matches in 2007. Senior Allison Heim has been an all-CCIW selection for three straight years. Heim was 12-4 overall and 5-1 against CCIW opponents. After three years she is No. 19 all-time in singles wins at IWU with a 37-18 record (.673 winning percentage).
