Illinois Wesleyan 2009 Softball Preseason Information

The Illinois Wesleyan softball team will open its season on March 15 against Massachusetts-Liberal Arts and Wisconsin-River Falls in a pair of games at the Rebel Spring Games in Orlando, Fla. The Titans will play 10 games in the annual Florida tourney. Wesleyan, coached for the second year by Steve King, won the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin regular season championship with a 12-2 record and finished with a 30-11 overall record and an appearance in the NCAA Division III regional. IWU will open its home season on March 31 with a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader against DePauw. Among the returners is junior pitcher Christy Engel, who was last season's "Most Valuable Player" as she posted an 18-6 record and a 1.34 earned run average.
