Titans Land Five on All-Conference Softball Teams
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Five Illinois Wesleyan players have been chosen to the all-league softball squads in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin in voting done by league coaches.
Senior first baseman Katie Frawley, junior pitcher Lauren Hyland and sophomore second baseman Ashley Deck were first team selections while junior shortstop Molly Coers and senior outfielder Natalie Hackett were named to the second team.
Frawley (Oswego, N.Y., HS), who was also a first team all-conference player in 2004, was third in the CCIW with a .490 batting average and with 24 hits and she led the conference with nine doubles and 18 runs batted in.
Hyland (Evergreen Park, Ill. HS) was 6-1 with a 1.51 earned run average (fourth in the conference) this spring and was second in the CCIW with 42 strikeouts.
Deck (Bolingbrook, Ill., HS) was sixth in the conference with a .453 batting average, was tied with Frawley for third with 24 hits and was fourth with 14 runs scored. Her 13 runs batted in was tied for third and her 38 total bases was third in the league.
Coers (Manito, Ill., Midwest Central HS), who was a first team all-CCIW player in 2005 and on the second team as a freshman in 2004, led the league with 16 runs scored and was No. 11 with a .423 batting mark.
Hackett (New Lenox, Lincoln-Way HS), who was a second team all-league choice in 2004, was 17th in the conference with a .356 batting average. She scored 11 runs with two doubles, a triple and six RBI in conference games.
Illinois Wesleyan finished with a 32-12 overall record and was 12-2 in the CCIW, finishing in second place. The Titans were not selected to play in the NCAA Division III tournament.
