May 15
Illinois Wesleyan junior Taylor Paskell was named to the second team of the Duramed FUTURES Tour Division III All-American team, selected by the National Golf Coaches Association. Paskell tied for 23rd in the 2007 NCAA Division III women's golf championships and was the Titans' low scorer for the season with a 79.9 average. Paskell was joined by teammates Andrea Johanns and Kristi Katz on the 10-player NGCA all-Central Region team. Johanns finished 30th and Katz was tied for 43rd in the NCAA tournament May 8-11.
May 11
For the second straight season, the Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team finished sixth in the NCAA Division III national championships, held at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. May 8-11. The Titans had a team score of 1335 over the four days as Methodist was the winning team with a 1215 score. Taylor Paskell finished tied for 23rd with a 330 total and Andrea Johanns was tied for 30th at 334. Kristi Katz (tie-43) had a score of 338, Nicole Spear (49th) had 343 and Allesandra Bollero (tie-56th) had a 349. The individual medalist was Methodist's Katie Dick with a 4-over par 296 four-day total.
May 10
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team moved up to sixth place from seventh after day three of the NCAA Division III national championships, held at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. on Thurs., May 10. The Titans' team score on day three was 321 and they stand at 1004 after three rounds of the four round event. Andrea Johanns shot a 77 and is tied for 14th place with a score of 242 (23 over par). Taylor Paskell is tied for 27th with a score of 250, Kristi Katz is tied for 41st at 255 and Allesandra Bollero and Nicole Spear are in a tie for 55th place with three day scores of 262. Methodist continues to lead the tourney with a team score of 915 and their player, Katie Dick, is the individual leader with a score of two-over par 221.
May 9
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team moved up to seventh place from tenth after day two of the NCAA Division III national championships, held at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. on Wed., May 9. The Titans' team score on day two was 334 and they stand at 683 at the midway point of the tourney, only one shot behind sixth place Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Andrea Johanns is tied for 17th with her two-day score of 165 while Taylor Paskell had a 79 on day two and is tied for 27th with 169. Kristi Katz and Nicole Spear (shown) are tied for 50th with 175 totals and Allesandra Bollero is tied for 58th at 179. Methodist continues to lead the tourney with a team score of 612. The championships consist of 72 holes of play over four days of competition.
May 1
For the fifth time overall and the third consecutive season, the Illinois Wesleyan women’s golf team has been selected to play in the NCAA Division III national championships. The tournament is May 8-11 at the Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., and includes 20 teams and 11 individuals. Competing for Illinois Wesleyan will be senior Andrea Johanns, juniors Taylor Paskell and Kristi Katz, sophomore Nicole Spear and freshman Alessandra Bollero. In previous Division III national tourneys, IWU was sixth in both 2006 and 2000, 10th in 2002 and eighth in 2005. In 2006, the Titans finished with a four-day total of 1369 as. Paskell finished seventh (the lowest ever for an IWU national competitor) with a four-day 317 total. Paskell finished 17th in the 2005 national tourney. The championships consist of 72 holes of play over four days of competition.
April 14-15
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team finished fourth of 15 schools in the IWU Spring Fling, held at Normal's Ironwood Golf Course on April 14-15. The Titans' team score was 664 as the winning team, Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), had 646. Wis.-Stevens Point (654) and Wis.-Eau Claire (662) finished second and third. Freshman Lindsey Haines carded a second day round of 77 (tied for the low round of the day by all players) and tied for third, the best Titan finish. Taylor Paskell and Nicole Spear tied for 11th with scores of 165.
March 31-April 1
The Illinois Wesleyan women’s golf team prevailed over seven other teams and Mother Nature’s soggy conditions to win the St. Francis Invitational, held March 31-April 1 at the Broken Arrow Golf Course in Lockport, Ill. Taylor Paskell finished first in the field with a two-day total of 160 (16 over par) while Nicole Spear was fourth and three other Titans finished in the top seven, including ties. As a team, IWU had 324-332 for a 656 total, topping second place Lewis (Division II) with 685. The Titans other entry placed fifth with a total of 714. IWU will play in the University of Illinois tournament on April 6-7.
March 23-25
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team opened its spring schedule with a fifth place finish at the Jekyll Island (Ga.) Women's Collegiate, held March 23-25. The Titans were led by the 16th place finish of Taylor Paskell, who shot 79-82-81 for a three-day total of 242. Andrea Johanns finished 18th with a score of 243 to help the Titans finish with a team total of 974. Berry (Ga.) was the winning team with a 947 score and Amy Goble of Berry was the medalist with a 223 score. The second IWU team finished ninth with a 1025 score and Alessandra Bollero finished tied for 30th with her 247 total, including a 76 on March 25, the lowest Titan score of the weekend. IWU plays next this weekend at the U. of St. Francis Invitational at the Broken Arrow course in Lockport, Ill.
October 10
Illinois Wesleyan women's golf coach Kathy Niepagen was the recipient of the CCIW Women's Golf Coach of the Year award Tuesday after the Titans won the conference championship for the fifth straight time over the weekend at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington, Ill. Illinois Wesleyan captured the championship by winning with a two-day score of 644 as the Titans' Taylor Paskell won medalist honors for the second time in her career with a two-day score of 150. Paskell also took home all-conference honors with her performance along with teammates Kristi Katz, Alison Mayer and Andrea Johanns.
October 6-7
For the fifth straight season, the Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team has won the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship, and for the second time in three seasons, Taylor Paskell (shown) was the tourney medalist. The Titans breezed to a 37-stroke win with a 644 team total compared to 681 for second place Augustana. Paskell carded a two-day total of 150 (including a one-under 71 on Sat., Oct. 7). Kristi Katz and Alison Mayer tied for third with 164 totals while Andrea Johanns was fifth with a 166. The Titans earn the CCIW’s automatic bid to the 2007 NCAA Division III women’s championships May 8-11 at the Mission Inn Golf & Tennis Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
September 30-October 1
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team finished both first and fourth at the Millikin Red Tail Run Classic, held Sept. 30-Oct. 1 in Decatur, Ill. Taylor Paskell finished second with a two-day score of 152 while Lindsay Haines and Kristi Katz tied for fourth with 156 totals. The Titans' winning team score was 632, easily besting second place Lindenwood (659). IWU looks for its fifth straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship next weekend (Oct. 6-7) at Bloomington's Prairie Vista Golf Course.
September 24
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team finished third in the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational, held at the Prairie Woods Golf Course in Avalon, Wis. on Sept. 23-24. The Titans' team total of 674 trailed only Division I Northern Illinois (641) and Wisconsin-Stevens Point (661). Taylor Paskell finished tied for seventh with a two-day score of 162 (+18) while Kristi Katz placed 12th at 164. Alison Mayer carded a second-day 82 to finish with a 167, tying her for 15th.
September 23
Illinois Wesleyan is in third place after day one of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational, being played at the Prairie Woods Golf Course in Avalon, Wis. on Sat., Sept. 23. Taylor Paskell is tied for third individually with a six-over par score of 78 while Kristi Katz is tied for 14th with her 82. The Titans have a team total of 326 and trail only Division I Northern Illinois (314) and Wisconsin-Stevens Point (315).
September 17
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team finished fourth of 25 teams at the IWU Fall Classic, held at Normal's Ironwood Golf Course Sept. 16-17. As a team IWU had a 649 score, trailing only DePauw (632), Wis.-Eau Claire (633) and Division II SIU-Edwardsville (641). Taylor Paskell tied for eighth with a two-day total of 157 while Andrea Johanns tied for 18th with her score of 160. Franklin's Katie Tewell had two rounds of 74 for a 148 medalist score.
September 16
Illinois Wesleyan junior Taylor Paskell fired a five-over par 77 and is in fourth place individually as the IWU women's golf team is in third place after the first day of the IWU Fall Classic, held at Normal's Ironwood Golf Course on Sat., Sept. 16. As a team, IWU has a 322 score and trails DePauw (311) and Wisconsin-Stevens Point (321). Nicole Spear shot a 79 and is tied for 10th individually. Franklin's Katie Tewell and DePauw's Sarah Gates are tied for the medalist lead with scores of 74.
September 9
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team finished second of 19 teams in the Monmouth (Ill.) Fighting Scots Invitational on Sat., Sept. 9. Kristi Katz led the Titans with her score of 80, which tied for second place. Taylor Paskell had 81 and was fifth. Augustana's score of 324 won the team title by 11 over IWU's 335 and Augie's Rachel Gahn had 78 to be medalist.
September 2-3
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team won the title of the Illinois College Invitational, held Sept. 2-3 at The Links in Jacksonville. The Titans had a two-day total of 664 to place first by nine strokes over Rend Lake Community College and by 10 shots over the second IWU team entry. Taylor Paskell was third with an 18-over two-day total of 162 and Andrea Johanns was fourth with a score of 163, including a second-day round of 77. Illinois College's Carey Cappel was the tournament medalist with a score of 148 and shot 71 on Sunday.
July 10
The Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team is ranked No. 6 in grade-point average among all colleges and universities in the 2005-06 National Golf Coaches Association All-Scholar Team rankings. The IWU team GPA was 3.622 (out of 4.0) and was the second highest for a Division III school (St. Olaf was tied for third at 3.65). The University of South Carolina women's golf team's GPA was 3.677, followed by Bradley (3.658), St.Olaf and South Alabama (both 3.65), and Western Carolina (3.643) in the top five.
June 2006
Fresh from a sixth place finish at the 2006 NCAA Division III women's golf championships, the Illinois Wesleyan women's golf team opens its fall season Sept. 2-3 at the Illinois College Invitational, held at The Links Golf Club in Jacksonville. The Titans are aiming for their fifth consecutive College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championship. The sixth place finish at the national meet was IWU’s second in the tourney's history - IWU was sixth in 2000, eighth in 2005 and 10th in 2002. Junior Taylor Paskell finished seventh in the NCAA tourney, the lowest ever for an IWU national competitor.
