Trout Named 2024 Kemp Award Winner

Professor of Theatre Arts Curtis Trout received the highest teaching honor at Illinois Wesleyan University on April 19 as the 2024 recipient of the Kemp Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence. 

Jemc '05 Named 2023 Guggenheim Fellow

Jac Jemc '05, who penned her first award-winning novel as a student at Illinois Wesleyan, has been awarded a fellowship from the prestigious John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation for her accomplishments and pursuits in fiction writing.

The Office of Student Involvement recognized several Illinois Wesleyan students, faculty and organizations at the annual Do Well & Do Good Involvement Awards ceremony on April 10.

Governor J.B. Pritzker reappointed Mark Denzler '93, who is President and CEO of the Illinois Manufacturers' Association, to continue serving on the Workers’ Compensation Advisory Board of Illinois.

Astronomer Susana Widicus Weaver '00 was a keynote speaker at the investiture of Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin at the University of Wisconsin Madison on April 13.

 

"Poetry for All," a podcast co-hosted by Isaac Funk Endowed Professor of English Joanne Diaz, was nominated as one of the best DIY podcasts of 2022 by The Podcast Academy in its third annual Awards for Excellence in Audio.

 

Katherine Steele Brokaw '02 is a founder of Shakespeare in Yosemite, a company that presents Shakespeare plays at the Lower River Amphitheater in Yosemite National Park. The performances feature park rangers among the cast members and incorporate messages about preserving nature.

Wellness Corner

This is our last week of wellness classes this school year. Hopefully classes will resume in September! We would like to give a huge shout out and thank you to the Yoga Lab, David Vale, Rhendy Bradshaw and Grace Redman for their dedication to our IWU family.


  • Yoga takes place on Monday in the Niepagen South Classroom, Shirk Center, with Rhendy Bradshaw from 12:15 - 12:55 p.m. There will be no yoga class on Thursday due to the Employee Appreciation Lunch.
  • Personal Fitness takes place on Tuesdays and Fridays on the east end of the Shirk Center track with Grace Redman from 12:15 - 12:45 p.m.

Reminder about 2022 Flexible Spending Account Submission Deadline

 

If you still have a balance in your 2022 Flexible Spending account, please note the upcoming deadline.

 

  • April 30, 2023 - Deadline for BPC to receive your requests for reimbursement

 

You can verify your balance by logging on to your account at www.bpcinc.com or by contacting BPC at 1-800-355-2350. 

 

All Flex reimbursement requests should be submitted directly to BPC. Requests can be submitted by mail, fax, online through the BPC website or by using the BPC phone app. The BPC reimbursement form can be found on the HR website.
