Alumna Amber S. Kujath '97 will lead the Illinois Wesleyan School of Nursing beginning Jan. 3.

Four IWU students received grants through the Titan New Venture Challenge to help further their original ideas for products and businesses.

A newly discovered lizard species was named in honor of IWU’s mascot — "Proctoporus titans." Robert Harrington Endowed Professor of Biology Edgar Lehr, who helped discover the lizard in Peru, authored a journal article on Dec. 31 announcing the name.

A 104-year-old fruitcake was donated by Sarah Randolph '78 and her family to Ewing Manor in Bloomington. The fruitcake was baked by Randolph’s grandmother and aunt in 1918 to be sent to a relative stationed in Europe during World War I, but remained in the family after he returned home.

Administrative Assistant in the Office of Student Involvement Courtney Turnbull is running for a seat on the Bloomington District 87 school board.

WGLT

Adjunct music instructor Deanne Bryant led the Bloomington-Normal Youth Symphony in a holiday performance on Dec. 17. Bryant has led the orchestra since 1995.

The Andrew Weishar Foundation will be honored on Feb. 4 with the Venerable Mary Potter Humanitarian Award at the OSF Healthcare Foundation’s Annual Crystal Heart Ball. Andrew Weishar attended Illinois Wesleyan in 2010, but sadly passed away in 2012 from colorectal cancer. 

 

Alex Riak '18 won second in the California Independent Film Festival composing contest in the animation category for his original film score. 

 

Michael A. Wolf '08 was named vice president of Farnsworth Group, Inc., based in Bloomington. 

 

Filmmaker Dare Olaitan '13 was recognized by several Nigerian publications for his work as a director, including Most Interesting Nigerians of 2022 and Top 5 Nollywood Directors of 2022.
