Kudos

IWU Magazine editor Tim Obermiller and graphics editor Gary Schwartz won the top prize for Excellence in News Writing in this year's Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District Five awards, for an article published in the Spring 2012 IWU Magazine about the women's basketball team's NCAA Division III championship.

In their evaluation, the judges wrote, "Under deadline pressure, Illinois Wesleyan University Magazine put together an exciting, comprehensive story that was both a narrative on the game and a moving story on the coach's struggle with cancer during that season."

CASE District Five (the Great Lakes District) encompasses Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin and includes 400-plus member institutions.
