Celebrate Kwanzaa With Us!
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and the Black Student Union will host their annual Kwanzaa dinner, open to all IWU students, faculty and staff. There will be 50 reserved spaces for the dinner. The first 50 to register for the Kwanzaa dinner will be notified by email.
Date: Thursday, Dec. 6
Time: 6 p.m.
Location: Turfler Room, Memorial Center
Whether you want to attend the dinner and program or only attend the program to learn about the history and help celebrate Kwanzaa, please follow these instructions to register:
1. Send an email to mcaffairs@iwu.edu
2. Use the subject line "Kwanzaa Dinner"
3. In your message, say: "I want to attend the Kwanzaa dinner and program," or "I just want to attend the program."

Holiday Luncheon
All faculty and staff are invited to the
2012 Holiday Luncheon at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, Dec.14 in Young Main Lounge, Memorial Center. Please call ext. 3540 or email rsvp@iwu.edu to RSVP by 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec.10. Your reservation will enter you in the gift drawing. You must be present to win. If you do not wish to participate in the gift drawing, please indicate that in your message.
At the Holiday Luncheon this year, we will continue our tradition of accepting contributions of food or cash to donate to organizations that fulfill the needs of others. Food donations will be collected for Clare House and cash donations for Miracle League of McLean County.
Adopt-a-Family
Student Senate, APO, Alpha Kappa Psi, the Student Volunteer Center and Circle K are partnering in a campus-wide effort to sponsor a local family that is in need for the holiday season. We are committed to buying various gifts as well as year-long necessities. We invite all members of the campus community to come down to the Hansen Student Center and sponsor a gift. Thanks in advance for your generosity.
Directions:
1. Pick an item represented on a snowflake (but leave the snowflake).
2. There is a number on that snowflake; find that number on the spreadsheet and fill out your contact information.
3. Drop off your item(s) either at the Hansen front desk or in the basement of Evelyn Chapel by Thursday, Dec. 6. They should not be wrapped.

• Danny Kenny '13 has been elected to the first team of the Capital One Academic All-America Men's Soccer squads. He is Illinois Wesleyan's114th Academic All-American since the program began in 1970, a total that is tied for 12th among all participating colleges and universities.

• Chair and Associate Professor of Religion Kevin Sullivan presented two papers at the Society of Biblical Literature/American Academy of Religion National Annual Meeting:

"What's in a Name? Demons, Exorcisms and Esoteric Knowledge of Names" was presented in the meeting's Esotericism and Mysticism in Antiquity section.
- "Jacob's Ladder: Angelic Locomotion in Second Temple Jewish Literature and the New Testament" was presented in the Religious Experience in Early Judaism and Early Christianity section.
• Orion, a composition for piano and percussion by Fern Rosetta Sherff Professor of Music David Vayo, was performed on Nov. 15 by Duo Matre at the College Music Society's national conference in San Diego, Calif.
• Shane McGowan '14 published the essay "Braided Blues" in the national undergraduate literary journal Catfish Creek.
