IWU is pleased to announce that Dr. Mauricio Parra will direct the 2014 IWU Spain Program in Barcelona. Dr. Parra is Professor of Hispanic Studies and led the IWU program in Madrid in 2006. He teaches Latin American literature, culture and film, as well as all levels of language instruction.
Dr Parra has made numerous presentations throughout the U.S., Latin America and Europe. A specialist in Gabriel Garcia Marquez, he has also written on a wide range of subjects, from Colonial text to Latin America’s modernity/postmodernity debates and his research has been published in journals such as La Torre, Orbis Tertius, Discourse etc. He is currently completing his book Beyond Good and Evil: Contemporary Colombian Narrative and the Logic of Displacement.
