All classes are open to IWU students only.  Students are not required to register for fitness classes. 


Hoop Dance Fitness (Canceled)

Monday 8:15-9:15 p.m.
Shirk Center Practice Gym

Hula Hoops have made a comeback! Learn how to take this well-known toy and transform it into a full body, high cardio workout. Maybe you couldn't hoop as a child? No fear! In class we will go over the basic moves necessary to work your core, open your chest and hips, strengthen your back and tone muscles from head to toe. Everybody learns at their own pace in a fun, laid back atmosphere. Smile while you sweat! Comfortable natural fibers are best to wear. Hula hoops are provided during class.

Cycle

Thursday 8:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Fort Natatorium Classroom (Shirk Center)

Cycle fun and challenging continuous interval cardio class that builds muscle strength, power, and endurance.  Participants are led through challenging intervals set to motivating music.  Spinning is sure to keep you feeling strong, and coming back for more.

Yoga

Monday / Wednesday  6:15 - 7:15 p.m.
Shirk Center South Classroom

Yoga will teach the basic postures in a style that is gentle enough for newcomers, satisfying for those with more experience and modifiable to meet individual needs.  The practice of breath-work, relaxation, and simple meditation will also be explored.

Zumba

ZUMBA is a fun Latin inspired, dance fitness class that is taking the world by storm! The class incorporates exciting and unique Latin moves and rhythms into an effective fitness system. ZUMBA allows you to dance your way to a fitter you in a friendly party like atmosphere!

Kickboxing

Wednesday 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
CNS Dance Studio A

Kickboxing combines aerobics, boxing and martial arts into an exciting, dynamic workout intended to enhance cardiovascular fitness, muscular endurance and self-confidence. Modifications are offered so that an individual at any fitness level can participate in the class.

  Pilates

Wednesday: 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.
Shirk Center South Classroom

Come invigorate your mind, strengthen your core, and condition your body using the principles of Pilates. Pilates teaches body awareness and good posture while increasing core strength, flexibility, & agility. Class will focus on classic mat Pilates to tone arms, legs and upper back as well as the core, taking you through everything you need to achieve a fit and healthy body.

  WERQ

Tuesday: 8:15 9:15 p.m.Shirk Center Practice Gym

This fiercely fun new dance workout fuses today's hottest pop, rock, and hip-hop music with easy dance routines designed for building fitness and having fun!  You don't have to be a dance to participate and all levels will be accommodated.  "WERQ" is a dance term meaning to "absolutely nail it with dominance and confidence." You can werq a runway, werq a dance floor, and now WERQ a fitness class.  Are you ready for WERQ?
