Stew Salowitz

A 1976 Illinois Wesleyan graduate, Stew Salowitz has been the school's Director of News Services since November 1988. In addition to handling publicity for IWU's 18 varsity sports, Salowitz also contributes to the University's general news coverage and the IWU alumni magazine.

He has handled media arrangements for the 2007 NCAA Division III national volleyball championship (hosted at IWU's Shirk Center); the 2005 and 2000 NCAA Division III national indoor track championships (at Shirk Center), the 2000 NCAA Division III national women's golf championship (held at Bloomington's Prairie Vista Golf Course), 17 Division III men's basketball tournament games, three Division III women's basketball tournament games; five Division III regional baseball tournaments (2000, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2007) and two Division III softball regionals (2002, 2003).

Salowitz's free-lance articles have appeared in the Chicago Tribune, Sports Collectors Digest, and the USA Today and he is the author of four books - two on local sports history, one on collecting baseball memorabilia, and "Chicago's Personality Radio", about WLS radio in the 1960s.

A native of Normal, Ill., he was the afternoon personality and a sportscaster for WJBC Radio in Bloomington from 1977-88.
