CCIW Honors Titan Academic All-Conference Student-Athletes

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Illinois Wesleyan seniors Jason Fisher and Robin Johnson were chosen as the winter sport recipients of the Jack Swartz Award, presented by the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, while junior Drew Kepple and senior Katie Frawley have been selected as the spring sport recipients.
The honor, named after the former CCIW commissioner and long-time Wheaton College coach and athletic director, goes to one male and one female athlete at each of the eight CCIW member institutions.
Under the criteria established by the league in April 2005, the winners must carry a GPA of at least a 3.50 and have played in one of the sports in the season they are recognized. In addition, they must have earned a letter in one of those sports during the past season and have been enrolled as a full-time student for at least one year.
A men’s basketball player, Fisher (Delavan, Ill., HS) graduated with a 3.99 grade-point average majoring in risk management and financial services while Johnson (Peoria, Ill. Dunlap HS), a swimmer, had a 3.93 GPA as a physics major.
Kepple (Tremont, Ill., HS), a golfer, sports a 3.88 grade-point average as a biology (pre-med) major and softball player Frawley (Oswego, N.Y., HS) had a 3.93 grade-point average majoring in political science and economics.
Academic All-Conference
A total of 16 Illinois Wesleyan student athletes were named to the academic all-conference team in the CCIW for the winter sports of men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s swimming, while 30 IWU student-athletes were honored in the spring sports of baseball, softball, men’s tennis, men’s golf and men’s and women’s track and field.
In order to earn academic all-conference recognition, the honorees have to have a minimum 3.30 GPA, earn a varsity letter during the past season and be enrolled in the institution for at least one year.
