Report of the Strategic Planning and Budgeting Committee (SPBC)

March 1, 2007

President Wilson convened the eighth SPBC meeting of 2006-07 at 11:30 a.m. The Committee clarified and approved a set of meeting notes from the February 5, 2007, meeting.

The President turned the Committee's attention to the only agenda item of the day--to continue a brainstorming discussion of potential capital campaign themes based on several planning documents from recent years, including the Strategic Plan itself, the Oakbrook Report (a summary of the Trustees' retreat in 2001), the Executive Summary of the IWU self-study for reaccreditation, the Master Plan, and the Presidential prospectus.

The Committee asked Professor Gardner to compile the ideas into a list and to circulate the list to members before the next meeting on March 12. Shortly after the March 12 meeting, the SPBC will release a draft of potential campaign priorities to the campus community for reaction and further input.  The goal is to have a more refined, but not final, list of potential campaign priorities to share with the Trustees at their May 10-12, 2007, retreat.
