December 6, 2005
President Wilson convened the tenth SPBC meeting of 2005-06 at 8 am. He asked the outgoing 2005 Student Senate President, Kevin Maliszewski, to introduce Haley Brown, the 2006 Senate President, who was attending an SPBC meeting for the first time.
The Committee had recently received revised interim reports from all work groups. Because the length and level of detail of these reports varied widely, members continued the conversation about the appropriate format for final reports. Although the intent is to keep the final planning document to a reasonable length, everyone agreed that it is extremely important that the rich background information collected by the work groups not be lost. The campus community can be sure, therefore, that all work group records will be passed along to the offices and committees assigned responsibility for implementing the strategies as soon as they are adopted and that these materials will remain central to the planning process.
Work group co-convenors were asked to submit their final reports by December 13 or 14 so that they can be reviewed at the next SPBC meeting on December 16. The full Committee will also meet again the following week at a time to be determined. (Recorder’s note: This additional meeting was later set for December 19.)
Report of the Strategic Planning and Budgeting Committee (SPBC)
December 16, 2005
President Wilson convened the eleventh SPBC meeting of 2005-06 at 3:30 pm.
The meeting was entirely devoted to studying a compiled list of strategies proposed by all work groups. The Committee considered each strategy individually, addressing language in need of clarification and discussing points of potential overlap with other strategies. Members agreed to meet again on Monday, December 19, to further consider the list of strategies and the proposed rationale for each item on the list.
