President Wilson convened the ninth SPBC meeting of 2005-06 at 3:30 p.m.  He introduced Pat Bass, Interim Vice President for Public Relations, who was joining the SPBC for the first time.

The discussion turned to the interim report for one work group whose efforts had not yet been considered by the full Committee.  Following that conversation, other work groups updated the Committee on their activities since the previous week when their reports were first presented.  All groups appeared to be making excellent progress, with many open forums and other means of collecting community feedback scheduled before the end of this term.

The President then asked the Committee to consider how to involve the Board of Trustees as well as the campus community in these discussions.  The Committee agreed that Professor Gardner should prepare a summary document, including the full text of interim work group reports whenever possible, for the Executive Committee before its next regularly scheduled meeting on December 7.  The President and the Executive Committee will then determine how to involve other members of the Board.

The SPBC agreed to meet again on December 6, at which time additional updates on the work groups’ efforts will be shared.
