Publications and Manuscripts in Preparation

- "Masculinized or Marginalized: Decentralization and Women's Status in Regional Polish Institutions" forthcoming, Journal of Women, Politics & Policy (formerly Women & Politics).
Rincker shows that despite expectations that new provincial-level legislatures will be more
women-friendly, gender inequalities persist in local Polish politics.

- "Leaders or Laggards: Engendering Regional Governance in Spain and Poland" under review at Democratization.  Rincker and co-author Candice D. Ortbals explain when sub-national gender equality bureaucracies are likely to advance feminist goals.

-  Rincker and Ortbals are currently working on a co-authored book manuscript entitled
Relocating Feminist Policy, a comparative study examining when sub-national gender
equality institutions successfully advance gender equality, with original survey data from                    Poland, Pakistan, Spain and Chile.  Rincker and Ortbals won a $3,500 grant from the                         American Political Science Association for survey implementation in Pakistan.
Read the IWU Press Release.  Ortbals and Rincker were recently announced as winners of the 2007 Carrie Chapman Catt prize for Research on Women and Politics.

- Using a unique public opinion dataset collected by Rincker, Rincker and co-author Martin F.
Battle examine whether Polish health consumers and providers prefer local government control over health care policy, and the reasons why Poles are "Dissatisfied with Decentralization."
