Kathleen Montgomery, Ph.D.

Dr. Montgomery teaches courses in comparative politics with an emphasis on post-communist and European politics, comparative social welfare, and women and politics. She has conducted extensive research in Europe with the assistance of Fulbright, IREX, and IWU Artistic and Scholarly Development grants. She has published on Hungarian politics, post-communist parties, legislative behavior, regime transition, and women in post-communist systems. Her most recent publication is, Women’s Access to Political Power in Post-Communist Europe, co-edited with Richard Matland (London: Oxford University Press, 2003). She is currently working on a project concerning the gender politics of child welfare in post-communist Europe.
