Charges, Reservations and Refunds

Students are required to live in University-approved housing (residence halls or Greek chapter houses) for four semesters.  Housing contracts are signed for both the Fall and Spring semesters during the current academic year.

Charges for residence hall room and board plans are published by the Business Office as a part of the Tuition and Fees schedule.

The following dates and deadlines are important to keep in mind.  We have differentiated them by term and student cohort for clarity.

Fall 2014, Incoming students

Housing information is sent to incoming first-year students beginning in January, 2014. Incoming students must complete the Residence Hall Housing Contract prior to June 1, 2014. All housing assignments are made chronologically by admission contract date. Residence Hall Housing Contracts completed after July 1, 2014 will be prioritized by date of receipt. Roommate requests must be made mutually and listed on the online Residence Hall Housing Contract. Confirmation of assignments and roommates will be emailed to incoming first-year and transfer students in mid-July.

Fall 2014, Returning students

Information regarding the housing selection and lottery process for the upcoming year is sent to returning students in mid January. Returning students must complete the Residence Hall Housing Contract online by March 1, 2014 to receive a lottery number and be eligible to participate in the housing lottery process.

Students not planning to return to University housing for the Fall semester must complete an online request prior to March 1, 2014. There is a $200 charge attached to student accounts in the Business Office for room reservations canceled after April 1, 2014. Returning students not pre-enrolled by July 1, 2014 forfeit their room reservations on that date.

Spring 2016, Returning students

Students not planning to return to University housing for the Spring 2016 semester must complete an online request prior to December 1, 2015. Exceptions for canceling housing after one semester includes participation in an off-campus study program and inactivation from the University, including graduation or school transfers.  Students are not allowed to cancel the housing contract to move off-campus or into a Fraternity or Sorority House mid-year.
