Engaging Diversity

Engaging Diversity Students          ED Student in action

Engaging Diversity brings white students to campus early, at the same time as MALANA and International students, in order to have an opportunity to build lasting relationships that value the diversity on our campus and in our community.

This program is ideal for white students who are interested in learning about diversity and social justice in the United States and who are seeking to engage that diversity in their personal and academic lives.

Students who have completed the program in the past have said:

  • “I think this is a part of the educational process that EVERY incoming first year student should go through!”
  • "I feel like I've learned so much about myself and the viewpoints of others. There were many eye opening experiences and I think those have helped me to be more open to seeing diversity in many forms at IWU."
  • "Engaging Diversity is a program that will help you realize you don't have to be a person of color to discuss racism and prejudice. You will realize every member of our society plays a part of diversity and that it's perfectly fine to be a white person engaging in diversity."
