Best thing about being a Titan:
Being part of the IWU community! I love the small campus and the close community it promotes.
Where do you like to hang out on campus?
In between classes, I like to hang out in the CNS atrium, but I can also often be found in the Dugout or on the quad (when the weather is nice) - or at Ames when it's time to study.
Do you work on or off campus? Where?
I work for the chemistry department as a TA for General Chemistry labs, so I'll be in the lab every Thursday morning this semester at 7:40am - yikes!
Campus / community organizations you are involved in?
I'm part of the Illinois Wesleyan Chapel Choir (and will hopefully be joining a couple more choirs next year), and I also belong to the IWU chapter of the American Chemical Society.
What was your favorite part of Turning Titan?
Meeting everyone! I loved meeting the girls on my floor and everyone in my Gateway group, along with other people I met randomly at meals and other events. Looking back, I met most of my closest friends at IWU during that week, so meeting people was definitely the best part of Turning Titan for me. Oh, and the hypnotist. Can't forget the hypnotist - don't miss that night!
What was your favorite class at IWU? What about your favorite class during your first year at IWU?
I loved Professor Marina Balina's course about fairy tales. It was fun to look back on stories I'd read as a child, plus, I can't think of any other class that would allow me to watch and analyze movies like Just Like Heaven and Shrek for credit! My favorite class during my first year was my Gateway course, CSI: IWU. I've always been fascinated by forensic science, so I was really excited when I found out that was going to be my Gateway. The interactive activities our professor came up with, including creating a fake crime scene on the quad for us to analyze, made sure we always enjoyed (and maybe even looked forward to) going to class.
Any interesting hobbies?...any hobbies at all…
I love pretty much anything related to music - listening to it, singing, going to concerts or musicals. I also love going swing dancing and bowling, and playing card games, especially euchre.
Favorite way to spend a sunny day in Bloomington / on campus?
Relaxing with friends and a bubble tea from Fusion Brew on the quad - or heading to the park to indulge my inner five-year-old!
Something that you absolutely couldn’t live without (on campus)…
The brownie sundae with mint chocolate chip ice cream from Tommy's!
Anything else you want to share…
