Victoria N. Folse received a B.S.N. from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1986 and an M.S. in Psychiatric Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1989. In 2002, she earned a Ph.D. in nursing with a concentration in research from Saint Louis University.
Prior to joining the faculty at Illinois Wesleyan University in 2002, Dr. Folse taught at Bradley University for three years and provided 15 years of full-time eating disorder treatment with 10 years of nursing management practice at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois, where she continued to work part-time with clients and families and provide clinical supervision to clinicians in the Eating Disorders, Behavioral Health, and Psychiatric Emergency Care Programs. Dr. Folse is a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Psychiatric Nursing and is an Advanced Practice Nurse with prescriptive authority in the state of Illinois. She is also a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. Dr. Folse has an extensive publication record, an ongoing program of research, and lectures nationally and internationally. She assumed the role of Director of the School of Nursing in 2009.
Dr. Folse is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Midwest Nursing Research Society, the Academy for Eating Disorders, and the International Orem Society. She is an American Association of Colleges of Nursing Leadership for Academic Nursing Program 2008 Fellow and received an Illinois Board of Higher Education Nurse Educator Fellowship in 2009.
