BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— On Saturday, September 28, a faculty recital featuring Vadim Mazo on viola will take place at Evelyn Chapel (1301 Park St., Bloomington) at 7:30 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
Mazo will be accompanied by Eva Ferguson on piano and Mark Anderson on guitar. The program will include “Sonata in A Minor for Viola and Piano” by Franz Schubert, with a guitar arrangement by Mark Anderson, “Fantasy Pieces Op. 73 bis” by Robert Schumann and “Sonata for Viola and Piano Op. 147” by Dmitri Shostakovich.
Mazo is an associate professor of violin and viola. He studied at the Byelorussian State Conservatory in Minsk and from 1968 to 1980 was a soloist with the Byelorussian Symphony Orchestra. In 1993, he founded the Ameropa Musical Arts Festival, an organization that works to create collaborations between American and European chamber musicians and ensembles.
