BLOOMINGTON, Ill.— The Illinois Wesleyan University’s School of Music will present a concert, New Music Café, on Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington). The event is free and open to the public.
New Music Café is part of the University’s School of Music’s New Music Series. It has been held every semester for the past 21 years and features guest conductors and performers.
Clarinetist Yi-Wen Chen will be one of the featured guests. Chen is a doctoral candidate in clarinet performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She will perform Gira by Elliot Carter, Palefire II by Ching-Wen Chou and New York Counterpoint by Steve Reich.
The evening will also feature guest performer Jason Pace. Pace, who is a percussionist, is working towards a master of music degree in percussion performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He will perform Changes by Len “Boogsie” Sharpe.
