BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music will present a student composition recital on Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 Park St., Bloomington). The performance is part of the IWU New Music Series and is free and open to the public.
The concert will feature compositions by sophomores Clarisse Tobia, a voice major from Sun Pairie, Wisc., Katherine Bregman, a sociology major from Evanston, Ill., and Christopher Grills, a piano performance major from Joplin, Mo. The recital will also feature pieces by music composition majors Lucas Tuazon, a junior from Tinley Park, Ill., Qingfan Jiang, a senior from Interlocken, Mich., and Scott Keegan, a senior from St. Charles, Ill.
As part of the Illinois Wesleyan/Illinois State University (ISU) student composers’ exchange, the recital will also feature a composition by ISU student, Jeff Schaller.
Some of the performances will include Tobia’s composition Stella, Tuazon’s arrangement of From Such Great Heights, which will be performed by IWU’s student-led a cappella group Suspended, and Schaller’s piece Do Nation.
