BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – On Friday, April 13, Illinois Wesleyan University's School of Music will present The Illinois Wesleyan Civic Orchestra (IWCO) performance at 7:30 p.m. at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts (600 N. East St., Bloomington).
Illinois Wesleyan's Professor of Music Steven Eggleston will be the music director and conductor for this year's performance. Founded in 1984 by Eggleston, this year will mark the Civic Orchestra's 27th season.
The concert will include Adagio for Strings written by Samuel Barber, Appalachian Spring written by Aaron Copland, and The Planets written by Gustav Holst.
The IWCO has performed alongside various eminent musical personalities, including virtuoso string bassist Edgar Meyer and Grammy Award-winning soprano Dawn Upshaw. Other distinguished guests that the ensemble has hosted throughout its tenure include trumpet musician Armando Ghitalla, baritone Roger Roloff and cellist Laszlo Varga.
