BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – On Sunday, Oct. 31, the Illinois Wesleyan School of Music will present the guest recital of Richard Shuster. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 3 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 Park St., Bloomington).
Shuster, an associate professor of music and coordinator of piano studies at Texas Woman’s University, will perform selected nocturnes by Gabriel Faure. The performance will consist of eight pieces with an intermission after the first four.
A recipient of the Fulbright Grant for study at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hungary, Shuster has performed throughout the United States and abroad. The music fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota has also recently recognized his accomplishments in the arts, naming him a national arts associate.
Shuster received a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., and a master’s degree and doctorate from the Eastman School of Music, in Rochester, New York.
