Cast of Reality Show Buried Life to Speak on Campus

November 23, 2010

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University’s Student Senate will welcome cast members from the MTV reality show The Buried Life, who will speak about social activism at the Hansen Student Center (300 E. Beecher St., Bloomington) on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m.

Following their presentation, there will be a meet-and-greet at 8:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The Buried Life is a series that focuses on four friends as they travel across North America trying to complete a list of “100 things to do before you die.” In each episode they conquer an item on the list, and also help a stranger achieve one of his or her dreams. They are known for asking the question, “What do you want to do before you die?”

The four stars of the show, Ben Nemtin, Duncan Penn, Dave Lingwood and Jonnie Penn, couple entertaining items from their list – such as playing basketball with President Barack Obama and interrupting a parade with a song in the style of the movie Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – with serious efforts to help strangers. In recent episodes, the young men have tried to help a woman prevent the clear cutting of a beloved forest, assisted in creating a forum for people to discuss the pitfalls of depression and helped a homeless man reconnect with his family.
