BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University School of Music will present the operas, "The Medium" and "The True Story of Cinderella" on Friday, April 3 and Saturday, April 4 at 7:30 p.m. All performances will take place in the Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 Park St., Bloomington).
The opera is free and open to the public.
"The Medium" is an hour-long opera written and composed by Gian Carlo Menotti. It follows the story of Madame Flora, a psychic medium to the afterlife, and a seance gone terribly astray.
"The True Story of Cinderella" was written and composed by Warren Martin.
Susan Klotzbach, chapel organist and music accompanist, is the musical director for both operas, and Robert Mangialardi, adjunct instructor for applied voice, opera performance and secondary methods, is the stage director.
Cast of "The Medium:" Friday April 3: Anya Fetcher, Amber Johnson, Jonathan Smith, Elizabeth Sowatzke, Michael Hansen and Suzanne Whitney. Saturday April 4: Kate Weiskopf, Hannah Kramer, Jonathan Smith, Elizabeth Sowatzke, Dan Megli and Emily Hopkins.
Cast of "The True Story of Cinderella:" Dan Cox, Stefan Riley, Sarah Kedzie, Matt Neylon, Matt Skibo, Mallory Roberts, Alejandro Postillo, Matt Freedman, Emma Rhine, Rachel Carreras, Natalie Cummings, Allison Crain and Justin Holloway.
