BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The opening concert of Illinois Wesleyan University’s 2009 Summer Music Program will be Thursday, June 11 at 6:45 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium (1210 Park St., Bloomington). The concert will feature faculty from the IWU cello camp, which starts on Thursday, June 11 and ends June 21. There will be five concerts during the camp, concluding with the 15th Annual Midwest Cello Celebration. All concerts will take place in Westbrook Auditorium, and all are free and open to the public.
Performances will be held:
Thursday, June 11 at 6:30 p.m.
Sunday, June 14 at 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday, June 17 at 7:30 p.m.
Friday, June 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, June 21 at 1:00 p.m. for the concluding Midwest Cello Celebration.
The faculty performing in Thursday’s concert will include Nina Gordon, professor of cello and chamber music at Illinois Wesleyan; Adriana La Rosa Ransom, professor of cello at Illinois State University; Dana Woolard Hughlett, principal cellist in the St. Joseph Symphony Orchestra; Ian Maksin, principal cellist in the Illinois Symphony Orchestra; Jennifer Heflin, DMA candidate at University of Minnesota; and Tanya Remenikova, professor of cello at University of Minnesota.
