BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Streamers have been hung, windows have been painted, and the football team is ready. Titan pride is in the air for Homecoming 2009 on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University.
Even the mascot, Tommy the Titan, is seen around campus and taking part in the festivities as students participate in “Where is Tommy,” a competition to promote school spirit and highlight the University’s mascot.
During the week of Oct. 5th through the 8th clues to Tommy’s whereabouts have been posted on his Facebook status. Monday through Thursday the mascot made an appearance at different locations during lunch and dinner as part of the hide-and-seek game. Students were on search for Tommy in places such as the Hansen Student Center T.V. lounge, the Minor Myers, jr. Welcome Center, and other locations.
In order to participate in the competition, students representing registered student organization teams were requested to take a picture with both Tommy and two members of the organization, post it in their Facebook photo album, and tag the photo. Points are awarded per picture and participants will be entered into a raffle.
