BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Wishes by Wesleyan will celebrate its first year as an official organization of Illinois Wesleyan University by hosting a benefit concert titled Rock the Wish.
The concert is scheduled for Feb. 28 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center (300 Beecher St., Bloomington). All proceeds will be given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Illinois. Open to the public, a $5.00 donation is requested at the door.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich their lives with hope, strength and joy. According to the organization’s Web site, the foundation has granted more than 8,000 wishes in Illinois since 1985.
The ultimate goal of Wishes by Wesleyan is to raise $6,000 to grant the wish of a child who lives in the Bloomington-Normal community.
Bands from the local community will include Kangaroo Jubilee, Ronnie the Bear and the Shaqwheels. Bands from the greater Illinois area will include Tonight the Prom, Danger is my Middle Name, The Show & Tell and Frantic. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, and if you wear a Wishes by Wesleyan hat (which will be sold for $7.00 at the concert), you will be given three free raffle tickets.
