Comedian Jay Black to Perform at Hansen Student Center

January 5, 2009

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan University’s Office of Student Activities will present comedian Jay Black on Friday, January 16 at 8 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center (300 E. Beecher St., Bloomington). The event is free and open to the public.

Black started out as a high school English teacher before deciding that comedy was his calling. In the past year, he has toured over 100 colleges and performed in clubs all over the country. He has been featured on Showtime, Fox Business Channel and A&E. As a screenwriter, Black has worked on several feature films.

Black was recently voted by Campus Activities Magazine to be the Reader’s Choice for 2008’s Comedian of the Year. His style of comedy has been described by critics as “observational, but also very personal,” and contains “a creative take on our absurd existence.”
