BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University Board of Trustees elected two alumni to three-year Trustee terms at the May 14 meeting.
Jean Baird, a 1980 Illinois Wesleyan graduate, is a vice president of operations for State Farm Insurance Companies in Columbia, Mo. Baird joined State Farm in 1980 as an analyst in the systems area and has advanced through offices in Georgia, Colorado, Arizona and Louisiana to her current position. She received a bachelor’s degree in French from Illinois Wesleyan and an M.B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2002. Baird currently serves as co-chair of the Transforming Lives Campaign Steering Committee for the University. She has been an active member of the IWU Council for Women and was president of the Illinois Wesleyan Alumni Association, previously serving on the Board of Trustees as an Alumni Association Trustee.
Elected to a term as an Alumni Association Trustee position was L. Tracy Wych, a 1977 Illinois Wesleyan graduate with a bachelor’s degree in business administration/accounting. Wych is a managing director at Calyon Corporate and Investment Bank in New York City. Her financial career has taken her to Chicago, Memphis, Phoenix and New York. Wych has continued her active role with Illinois Wesleyan, serving as reunion chair, class agent and region president. She currently serves on the Alumni Association Executive Board, and is also a member of the IWU Council for Women. She lives in Chatham, New Jersey.
Re-elected as officers of the Board for 2009-2010 were: George A. Vinyard, class of 1971, president; Gilbert L. Dorsey, class of 1962, first vice president; Herbert A. Getz, class of 1977, second vice president; Susan D. Waring, secretary; and Robert E. Field, class of 1967, treasurer.
Trustees re-elected for a three-year term were: Michael A. Clark, class of 1976; Robert E. Evans, class of 1962; Judith E. Favell, class of 1966; Michael L. Tipsord, class of 1981; Steven J. Wannemacher, class of 1973; and David G. Wilkins, class of 1974.
Two trustees were accorded emeritus status at the meeting, Robert E. Page, class of 1958 with an honorary degree in 1986; and John W. Remo, class of 1958.
