College Music Society to Hold Conference

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The College Music Society (CMS) Super Regional Conference of the Great Plains and Great Lakes Chapters hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University and Illinois State University will take place on Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 at Illinois State University.

The 50th anniversary conference will feature a keynote address by Bruno Nettl, professor emeritus of musicology at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana School of Music; two full days of sessions, presentations, exhibits and workshops; welcome addresses by Illinois Wesleyan School of Music Director Mario Pelusi, Illinois State Dean of the College of Fine Arts James Major, and Illinois State School of Music Director Stephen Parsons; dinner events sponsored by Illinois Wesleyan and Illinois State University; and several concerts including a performance by the Illinois Wesleyan University Jazz Ensemble. The two evening concerts, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. in ISU's Center for the Performing Arts, will be free and open to the public.
