BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Illinois Wesleyan University's School of Music will present the Murasaki Duo on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. in Westbrook Auditorium, Presser Hall (1210 Park St., Bloomington). As part of the School of Music's "New Music Series," the recital will feature 20th century and contemporary compositions. The event is free and open to the public.
The duo consists of cellist Eric Kutz and pianist Miko Kominami, was founded in 1996, and is dedicated to performing cello and piano literature as chamber music. They have performed throughout the United States and Canada, including concerts in New York City and Toronto, and have won recognition as one of the leading ensembles of its genre. Advocates for new music, the duo actively commissions new works in addition to performing the classics.
Kutz and Kominami recently released their debut record, featuring works of Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff on the Centaur Records label. Currently both of them hold faculty positions at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.
