BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University Civic Orchestra will join musician and composer Edgar Meyer in a concert on Friday, April 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts (110 E. Mulberry St., Bloomington).
A string bassist, Meyer has released a concerto album with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra featuring Bottesini's Gran Duo with Joshua Bell; Meyer's Double Concerto for Bass and Cello with Yo-Yo Ma; Bottesini's Bass Concerto No. 2 and Meyer's Concerto in D for Bass along with an acclaimed album of Bach's Unaccompanied Suites for Cello. He has also performed with banjoist Bela Fleck. Meyer and Fleck released an album, titled “Music for Two,” which highlights both pieces written by the pair and adapted pieces composed by Bach and others.
Admission for the general public is $20 for adults and $10 for students and children. Students must present a valid student ID when purchasing tickets. Seats may be reserved for $20 by calling the Bloomington Center for Performing Arts box office at (309) 434-2777 or at www.artsblooming.org.
