BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University Office of Student Activities will present Rocket Science on Friday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center (300 Beecher St., Bloomington).
The event is free and open to the public.
The film is about Hal Hefner (Reece Daniel Thompson), a New Jersey teenager who endures the usual trials of his age and also puts up with his dysfunctional family. Encouraged by his crush, high school debate team star Ginny Ryerson (Anna Kendrick), Hal joins the debate team despite that he stutters when he speaks, counting on his intelligence and wit to help him succeed in both competition and love.
Written and directed by Jeffrey Blitz, Rocket Science is the winner of the 2006 Sundance Film Festival Directing Award and was nominated for Sundance’s 2007 Grand Jury prize. Rocket Science is also nominated in several categories in the 2008 Independent Spirit Awards.
