BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University Saxophone Quartet and Quintet will perform a recital on Saturday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. in the Westbrook Auditorium of Presser Hall (1210 N. Park St., Bloomington).
The event is free and open to the public.
The quartet is under the direction of IWU Saxophone and Music Education Professor Keith M. Zimmerman, who will join the quartet in the second half of the recital as an alto saxophonist. Student members are Brent Bogen, a junior political science major, on baritone; Dan Czachura, a junior orchestral instruments major, on tenor sax; Christy Engel, a freshman mathematics major, on alto sax and Nicole Valdez, a junior music education major on soprano sax.
The quartet program will consist of Sevilla by Isaac Albeniz, transcribed by Marcel Mule; Samuel Barber’s Adagio, transcribed by Michael Warner; and Jack Marshall’s Goldrush Suite. The quintet selections will be the adagio and allegro from Baroque composer Tomaso Albinoni’s Sonata, op. 2, no. 6; Percy Grainger’s Lisbon; and the adagio and allegro movements of Mozart’s Quintet, K. 406.
