Singer-Songwriter Nini Camps to Play at Hansen
August 31, 2006
BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- Acoustic guitarist Nini Camps will take the stage on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 8 p.m. at Illinois Wesleyan University's Hansen Student Center, 300 Beecher St., in Bloomington.
The performance is free and open to the public. Doors open at 7 p.m. IWU students get first choice at seating.
As a musician, singer, songwriter, and co-producer, Camps is involved with every aspect of her music. She is known to constantly challenge herself through experimentation, especially in her live shows. Born in Miami to Cuban immigrants and now based in New York City, Camps blends the high-energy of her parents' beloved Latin music with Americana rock riffs to create a uniquely diverse sound. Camps perfected her now signature slide-loop guitar-playing on her sophomore release So Long, which landed her the number five position on Spin's top singer-songwriters list. She also received Billboard's Songwriter Award.
Camps has toured with acts such as Los Lonely Boys, Ari Hest, and Joan Osborne. After signing a publishing deal with Cherry Lane Music, Camps began 2006 with an East to West Coast tour. She was chosen as the U.S. representative for the World Cup Music Festival.
