December Graduates Dinner Slated for Thursday

Dec. 12, 2006

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. —President Richard F. Wilson, Provost Beth Cunningham and other University officials will host the third annual December Graduates Dinner at the Memorial Center on Thursday, Dec. 14.  The evening’s featured speaker will be Professor of Sociology James Sikora, recipient of the 2007 Pantagraph Award for Teaching Excellence.

This new tradition, which began during President Wilson’s first year at the University, will honor 35 graduates. Some of the 35 mid-year graduates are early graduates and will return in May to participate in the Commencement ceremony with their classmates; some are 4-1/2 year seniors who participated in last spring’s Commencement, then completed student teaching or other course requirements before receiving their diploma in December.

The University's Commencement ceremony will be Sunday, May 6, 2007.
