BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -Filipino high school graduates from Mindanao, Philippines, will perform dances from the Southern Philippines on Monday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hansen Student Center at Illinois Wesleyan University, 300 Beecher St., Bloomington.
Sponsored by the May Term Office and the Social Science Division, the event is free and open to the public. The 23 students performing, as well as eight adult chaperones, are visiting campus, and the May Term course "Peoples and Cultures of Southeast Asia," taught by Teddy Amoloza, Professor of Sociology. The students represent many different religious denominations of the Philippines, both Christian and non-Christian.
The group's cultural performance at Hansen Student Center that evening will include dances that depict various Filipino customs and traditions.
