BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - A memorial service for David Nott, professor emeritus of music at Illinois Wesleyan University, will be held on Saturday, April 23, at 4 p.m. in Presser Hall on the University campus. The service will feature music and remembrances by Nott's former students and colleagues along with presentations by the University's current Collegiate Choir.
Nott, who died on Dec. 15, 2004, was director of choral activities at Illinois Wesleyan, where he as a professor for 31 years. His yearly tours with the Illinois Wesleyan Collegiate Choir took that group to all corners of the United States, and recordings with the Choir received critical acclaim.
Alumni members of the Collegiate Choir will join with current undergraduates for several choral selections while two of Nott's former students who became two of the world's preeminent operatic singers, soprano Dawn Upshaw and bass-baritone Roger Roloff, will participate in the program.
The service is open to the public. Presser Hall is located at 1210 Park Street.
