Dr. Shela Bondurant-Koehler has been the Director of Music Education at Illinois Wesleyan University since 1992. She has taught music (K-12 general,vocal, and instrumental) in both public and private schools in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, and South Carolina. Dr. Koehler received an Orff-Schulwerk certificate from the Carl Orff Institute of Music in Salzburg, Austria. In addition, she received Kodaly training from the late Dr. Jean Sinor at Indiana University. Dr. Koehler has presented numerous music education workshops throughout Illinois and the mid-west. Her areas of research include music preference, creativity, Orff and Kodaly pedagogy, and autism. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, MENC, OAKE, AOSA, Phi Kappa Lambda, and the Society for General Music Teachers. Dr. Koehler received her D.M.E. from Indiana University, M.M. from Ball State University, and B.M.E. from Murray State University. She, her husband, and daughter reside in Bloomington, Illinois.
