Susan Klotzbach works at Illinois Wesleyan University as University Organist, Opera Music Director, and staff accompanist. She is also the organist at First Baptist Church in Peoria, IL.
Before moving to Bloomington, Susan served as the organ faculty member at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, Stetson University in DeLand, FL, Carthage College in Kenosha, IL and Houghton College in Houghton, NY. She was instrumental in developing organ programs and continuing-studies programs for area church musicians. She received her Master and Doctorate of Organ degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. Her Bachelor of Music degree is from the University of Iowa. Her primary organ instructors were Russell Saunders and Delbert Disselhorst. She received the Performer’s Certificate and Ann Anway scholarship while at Eastman. She was active in performance competitions, having won the Spivey Internation Festival competition and being a finalist in the American Guild of Organists National Competition and the Calgary International Organ Festival. While at IWU, Susan has hosted the 25th Jordan Casavant Organ Celebration in 2009 and been music director for Menotti’s The Medium. |
