Soprano/Professor of Voice

Known for her rich soprano voice, Elizabeth Ducey Moss is a polished performer of the highest caliber.  An active recitalist and concert soloist, Ms. Ducey Moss continually seeks to expand and diversify her repertoire by performing a variety of programs from new music to chamber and oratorio works. Other areas of interest include songs by women composers and the study of new languages, including Czech and Slovak.  Ducey Moss was the winner of the central region of the 2008 National Association of Teachers of Singing Artist Award competition.  On the opera stage Ducey Moss’s roles include Elvira in Le Nozze di Figaro, Fiordilidgi in Così Fan Tutte, Giulietta in Les Contes d’Hoffmann and Gertrude in Hansel und Gretel.  Her oratorio credits include Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Mendelssohn’s Elijah and Mozart’s Requiem.

As an experienced teacher, Dr. Ducey Moss believes that the undergraduate singer must focus primarily on developing the principles of good vocal technique.  With a direct approach to singing that incorporates discussion of both the physiological aspects of vocal technique and visual imagery, Dr. Ducey Moss promotes an un-manipulated production of tone in an effort to unveil the uniqueness of each voice.

Her passion for languages has enabled Dr. Ducey Moss to teach diction courses in French, German, Italian, and English.  She has served on the voice faculties of Webster University in St. Louis, MO; Elmira College in Elmira, NY; and the Cedar Arts Center in Corning, NY.  Ducey Moss is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and an honorary member of Sigma Alpha Iota (Woman’s Music Fraternity).

Ducey Moss completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance and Literature at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where she was the student of Cynthia Haymon-Coleman.  She was awarded the Master of Music degree from Binghamton University and the Bachelor of Arts in Music from Acadia University.  Further studies have taken her to Sienna, Italy and Laval University in Quebec, Canada.
